The image is updated roughly every thirty minutes or so and in case you are curious, the GREEN CIRCLE is centered on Idyllwild, California. More information about THE LONG WAIT, truly rare noir that will be posted here shortly, but for now, here is a brief summary: It doesn't get much better that this. Anthony Quinn is double-crossed by a hood who wants his woman. Quinn plays a character that suffered a severe head trauma that made him lose his long term memory... he can't remember who he is or anything from his past. This presents a huge problem as he is directed by the guy who wants his woman to pick up his reward in his old hometown. 
Quinn's character, Johnny McBride, heads for his hometown and learns that the reward is actually a bounty as he is wanted for MURDER. He is forced to defend himself with no knowledge of his past. The only way he can save himself is through past relationships with women that loved him. They hold the secret to his past! In Charles Bronson fashion, Quinn goes on a quest to find the true murderer and his true identity! 
Our film from two weeks ago, Blood of a Poet (1931) was from Director Jean Cocteau, a practicing surrealist, put this philosophy into his landmark visual odyssey, Blood of a Poet. The film asks the question of what might happen if an artist's works suddenly takes on a life of its own, even talking back and being critical of his creator's art. Fantasy? A dream? The Green Cafe celebrated its 'Sweet 16' birthday with a LIVE performance by world class Cellist Mark Votapek. This was followed by some birthday cake and then a showing of the Czech film, Kolya (1996). The event was packed with Pacific Crest Trail hikers as well as the regular cinema crowd. Mark played for about an hour and the crowd was treated to a great performance. Mark is now back on the trails heading for Canada. You can read a recap of the event on Robin's blog site.

Cellist Mark Votapek appearing @ 7pm Friday, May 3rd at Cafe Cinema PartyFollowing five years as associate principal cellist of the Saint Louis Symphony, Mark Votapek moved to Honolulu, Hawaii to begin performances in the 2004-2005 season as the new principal cellist of the Honolulu Symphony. His continued activities on the mainland eventually led to his permanent return in 2008, accepting a new appointment as assistant professor of cello at the University of Arizona. He maintains annual appearances as teacher and performer at Indiana University's Summer Festival, and as a member of Ebb and Flow Arts new music ensemble and of Pacific International Concert Artists. William Park, a retired professor from Sarah Lawrence College, received degrees In English Literature from Princeton and Columbia and has written on many subjects, including English and American poetry, rococo art—and cinema criticism. The film we have selected is rich in all the elements of classic film noir. Criss Cross (1949) started out as a Los Angeles police procedural, but director and film noir pioneer, Robert Siodmak, turned it into into a hyper sensual and stylized view at the results of obsession. It all centers around a robbery dreamed up by a femme fatale (Yvonne De Carlo), her obsessed ex-husband (Burt Lancaster) and brutalizing gangster (Dan Duryea).

Chef Cathy Brown, has the natural knack when it comes to making something scrumptious out of purely healthy ingredients. Idyllwild has a new bike shop. The Hub Cyclery can handle all bicycle repairs, old and new. They are open for business now, mostly on the weekends, and they are located about a block up from town center at 54425 North Circle Drive. They have morning group rides leaving from The Hub Cyclery.
